Back Home
Had a wonderful oppritunity to go out to Summerfield this past week to shoot a clients home-place, where they grew up. Summerfield is small place/township located just outside of Greensboro. While driving to the location, I kept thinking, is this place going to be in the middle of the city? Well, next thing you know, I went from city to country living in a blink of an eye. Hopefully you will enjoy viewing this series of images taken from this beautiful setting.
Initally it was thought that what could a picture of a mailbox become. With a dramatic sky as well as the greenery, I feel the image turned out well.
The client told me that they remember going down to the creek on the property and playing around and in the creek. Though at one time, more water flowed through these channels, the image still paints a picture of what once was.
So, how cool is it that your dad bought or has an actual school bus, on the property. Well this property owner did and it served as a great model for this shot.
Thought I am not familiar with my Ford models and year makes, this Ford served for a nice set of images.
The reason behind all of this beautiful land and neat items.
The owners pride and joy!

So Long, Friend.....
I apologize for not posting recently. I have intentions of posting more. However, currently, I am sitting here at my desk with a heavy heart and a little heart broken as well. I found out yesterday (Friday, Aug. 31st) that a man I looked up to in life was not doing so well. He was admitted into the hospital and the prognosis was not in his favor. After I was told this information, I wanted to go see him in the hospital. I had a deep desire to go see him and hope to speak to him. It was later in the night when the information was given to me. So I decided to wait until the next day to go and see him if he is still in the hospital. I was a little naive because I honestly knew in my heart that the next day he would hopefully be home.
So the next day comes and I call to know the details of my friends status and what room number he was in so I could see him. Unfortunately I was too late. My friend had already passed on to be with the Lord that morning. I remember telling my brother to pray for him that day. Little did I know at that time, he was already gone. I am still in disbelief and utter shock. This is a man that was VERY strong that one would think he was going to live forever. This just goes to show you how brittle life is and can be gone in a blink of an eye.
This man, was no ordinary man. This man would give anyone a chance, no matter what. This man, I know would give the shirt off his back to anyone. I seen this man give people many more chances than I know I would. It just goes to show you his nature. He was indeed special to me and I know many more. The man came to this country with $200 or less in his pocket and did not know how he was to survive. The man worked hard for a living. No one can contest that I am sure. He ensured that his family and friends were taken care of at all times. His nature was caring and always wanted to give you something.
I have known this friend since I was 16 years old. I was young, inexperienced, and had no clue as to what I wanted to do in life. I just knew I wanted to make money to provide for myself. This man took me under his wing, for some apparent reason, and taught me a lot of life's lessons. I worked hard and enjoyed working for him. It was never a boss and employee relationship. He was a father figure to me in so many ways. He would always call me "his boy", as if I was one of his own kids. Though he was a Greek, he told me that I was 75% Greek. The only reason I could not be 100% is because I was born here in the States. I just laugh (and am currently as I type), because he would tell this to all his friends and family, as well as mine. I do not think he ever knew his influence on me, or maybe he did and I did not know it. His wife told me today, while visiting them, that he always said he was proud of me. Wow, the tears really shed then to know I made my mentor proud. Though I could not say thank you to his face, I could feel his presence and his smile. That was quite humbling.
It was an honor to know this wonderful man, As I indicated above, though he held many titles such as :son, dad, husband, brother, mentor, manager, owner, father figure, and most of all a great friend. My usual meeting place of my friend will just not be the same, but the memories we made will not fade. I would always look forward to seeing him come through those double doors. He would look around to find me and then come speak to me. Now, only Lord knows what that looks like, as he came through the doors of heaven doing the same. The guy had a smile and glow that not many have. It was contagious and comforting at the same time. In my years of knowing him, I never seen him get rattled. He faced adversity toe-to-toe and took it with stride.
This is just a small portion of the memories from the years past. We shared so many over the years. I felt I needed to let some of these thoughts out, so I decided place my thoughts here. I have so many questions, so many thoughts running through my head right now. It really places a lump in my throat right about now to know he is gone. Only the Lord knows why he has left at such a young age. My friend is in a truly better place now. Rest in peace my friend. You will be deeply missed.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Every year, my family takes a vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. Usually around the first week of August. I had always wanted to take pictures of a pier and I knew that where we were staying, two piers were somewhat close. So one morning, my wife and I woke up pretty early (around 6am) and got ready to go shoot at the pier. The sun was just peaking over the horizon and I knew I did not have much time left. We walked down to where the pier structure is and started shooting. There were many things going on with the environment. The movement of the water, the sun peaking over the horizon, cloud detail, wood detail of the pier, and also lines created by the structure. I was in heaven and had many ideas and thoughts going through my head. The below are my compositions of what I envisioned and hope you enjoy them.
Pretty sure this was the first set of shot I completed of this excursion. Usually, in my experience, my first shots are generally the best.
We took a walk on the pier after the taking this pictures. They guys tending the pier indicated that later on that night, they were having a fireworks display at 9:30. I told my wife that we should watch them from near our hotel and maybe catch some nice images of the display.

The Hill Family
Would like to introduce you to the Hill family. These are some very close friends of both mine and Makenzie, as well as my entire family. They wanted to do fall portraits, but as luck had it, we were in Myrtle Beach at the same time. They thought that it would be better to possibly do beach portraits instead. It turned out to be a great idea and the day was beautiful. A little windy, but hey we were at the beach. Guess that can be expected.
This is Jon and Tia Hill. All I can say is "what wonderful people". They have been nothing but gold to me as well as my entire family.
The wind here was getting in the way of things, but here is Laci, the daughter of Jon and Tia.
The entire Hill family that includes Jon, Tia, Laci, and Landon.

Aubrey Manns Session
Some really great friends of mine asked if I would do a session for their daughter for her first birthday that is approaching August 28th. Our schedules finally agreed and was able to shoot. The location was in Lexington, NC. The weather was not the best, but we made do with what we had. Heavy rains showered this area the night before making our shoes wet the next morning when the session took place. Great thing is Miss Aubrey was an amazing subject so my part was pretty easy. I hope you enjoy looking into this session. Please feel free to leave me a comment and also take a look at all my images HERE at my website.
The first set of images were taken in a rocking chair that was a gift from Aubrey's Aunt. She had sanded this rustic rocking chair down and re-finished it for a gift to Aubrey. What a wonderful gift and pretty good carpentry skills!
The parents got a cake just for her to do what she wishes with it. She was very "lady" like with her cake at first. Taking small bites and avoiding getting anything on her. She caught on later in the shoot and got dirty, however the first images proved she likes to enjoy her cake.
Ahhh... The look of "I have no clue what happened". This image is priceless.

A new era...
Well, usually I talk to my wife a lot about photography. People have came to me asking about doing different sessions and I always shy away from these opportunities. Well, as I was talking with her yesterday, I said you know I feel that it is time for me to start taking people up on these opportunity. She said I think that is a great idea.
The reason I wanted to start doing this is to learn more about the art of photography. One thing is for sure, styles and fads of photography are continuously changing. I want to continue to study this art as well as share these studies with others. If you have any questions, you can contact me Here by email. Also, see my website HERE for some of my work. I look forward to working with you.
Some of my recent work is also shown below.
This is an image from Cades Cove in Tennessee. The views and scenery was amazing.
This image was taken at Hanging Rock State Park in North Carolina. What a beautiful mountain day this was.
Another compostion from Hanging Rock State Park of the upper cascade waterfall.
This was shot was taken from a private cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Breath taking views!
